A church in France has joined our cause!

We have surprising news, that are terrific and confirm once again that God's ways are unknown.

Fate wanted that Alexandrina pass through this tragedy, but Lord gives her strength and chances to get well. Our prayers have been heard. Here is a clear response.
Thanks to our friends who are now in France, and whom we have great respect for, a church in the town of Besancon is praying for Alexandrina's health.

Moreover, The Romanian-French Orthodox Church of Virgin Mary and St. George from Besancon decided to send a substantial donation for Alexandrina's case.
The Lord is great, the Lord is with us. He is always with us.

Gratefully,
Diana si Alexandru

New developments in Alexandrina’s case

We have great news!

Students, parents and teachers from CALARASI raion want to see Alexandrina smile again….!!!

We feel that new doors and windows open to bring in the fresh air of hope and everything will be well in the end and that we can “breathe again” soon.
Thanks to the TV reports dedicated to Alexandrina and to the creation of this blog, students, parents and teachers from CALARASI launched a fundraising campaign at the initiative of the Division of Education of the Calarasi raion.
The Călăraşi message was: You are not alone in this struggle. Calarasi children pray that Alexandrina smiles with her lips again!!!

As a result of their campaign, they managed to collect a tremendous amount of 14. 731 Moldovan lei and 10 dollars.
Here is who contributed to the campaing:
Ø Education Organizations (Horodişte vil. Theoretical Lyceum, Leordoaia vil. Gymnasium, Pauleşti vil. Gymnasium, Frumoasa vil. Gymnasium, Mindra vil. Gymnasium, Temeleuţi vil. Gymnasium, Niscani vil. Gymnasium, Peticeni vil. Gymnasium, Tibirica vil. Theoretical Lyceum, Calarasi Elementary School, Radeni vil. High School, Raciula vil. High School, Hirjauca vil. High School);
Ø Călăraşi Raion Council (General Divison for Education and Sports, Division for Agriculture, Constructions Section; General Division of Finance, Economics Section, Office of the Raion’s Chairman),
Ø “CĂLĂRAŞII” local newspaper.

We can’t find the words to express our gratitude for this gesture and for this ATTITUDE!!!

We would like to give special thanks to the CIVIC MONITOR, who had a special contribution in this campaign.

May God give you health!

Thanks to your responsiveness and generosity, today we have 7,150 Euros.
Thank You all from the heart!

Thanks to the blog, to Internet announcements and to the latest report on N4TV on January 18th, as well as thanks to spreading the information via relatives, friends and colleagues, we now have the opportunity to examine other options and solutions to get our girl cured.

For our endless joy, we have obtained offers to send Alexandrina’s file for amalysis and consideration to several specialized clinics abroad: in ITALY, the U.S.A. and GERMANY (in other towns such as Stuttgart, Munchen, Konstanz), which gives us more alternatives and the opportunity to compare and to make a choice that would be optimal and safest for SANDUTA. We are now awaiting replies from the clinics to estimate our chances and to compare proposals, prices and guarantees.

This is a very difficult decision, the fate of our girl depends on it.
Also, TV reports from Alexadrina’s case archive were placed on YouTube.

Everyday we are receiving calls of support, material assistance, suggestions and new opportunities. The amount that we managed to collect so far has two significant transfers that we would like to mention:
1) A 10,000 Moldovan lei donation from construction company CIRASICO,
2) An almost 10.000 Moldovan lei donation from BC Moldova Agroindbank;

We are VERY THANKFUL for these and all the other contributions!!!!!!!

Respectfully,
Diana and Alexandru

News about Alexandrina

For those interested and devoted to our cause, and to those eager to get involved in the fundraising campaign for Alexandrina, here are the latest news:

(1) In the period 11-January, we were in Bucharest for complex medical investigations of Alexadrina’s condition, which are needed before getting on with reconstruction surgery. We went to Bucharest because:
a) We stayed in hospital in reanimation for a month in Bucharest, there we were treated and we need regular medical checks and investigations, because the septicemia (the blood infection with the virus) that Alexandrina had might have severe consequences in the future unless the child’s condition is thoroughly monitored.
b) There are specialized labs in Bucharest researching viruses of this type, and we also need to make a Immunogram (the virus attacks the immunal system, and in Alexandrina’s care her immunity was weakened to the limit by it!!!) to see if the child’s organism is prepared to face plastic surgery - these are very complicated surgical operations requiring general anesthesia, which bears great risk, given the girl’s age and her general condition after septicemia.

Results: The results of the medical investigation are GOOD, the child is recovering quickly, there are some deviations in her medical evolution, but her condition is generally assessed as acceptable (considering the complications and the impact of the sepsis).

(2) To date, all the efforts are taken to remove the grave malformation of the girl’s upper lip, and that requires a reconstructive surgical intervention. We have examined several options regarding performing this kind of interventions.

Results: To date, the clinic in Freiburg, Germany, offers surgeries that are most safe and have the highest rate of success for this kind of cases because: advanced technology is used in the surgery, which allows for tissue implants; the hospital has adequate modern equipment to take care of babies of Alexandrina’s age; the hospital uses tested and verified techniques in plastic reconstruction (not experimental techniques), the equipment used is said not to leave big scars and guarantees a least risky result attainable in just 2 interventions - compared to other clinics.

(3) We continue the fundraising campaign for the surgery and are very grateful for the results that we have already obtained:
Results: Since December 25, 2007, when the campaign to help Alexandrina started, we managed to collect an amount in Moldovan lei and other currency that amounts today, January 16, 2008 to 6,100 EURO (we estimate in Euros, as this is the currency that we need money in for the surgery). We are helped by friends, relatives, acquaintances and organizations that try to help as they can.

We will keep you up to date with the fundraising and post news every 3-5 days to see how the campaign evolves.
We are now convinced more that ever that we can make our dream to go to Germany come true.

(4) Last week before leaving for Bucharest, a TV report was filmed about the developments in Alexandrina’s case.
It should be broadcast Thursday, January 17, on N4 TV Channel, in their news program, “OBIECTIV”.

Sincerely,
Diana and Alexandru

Surgery for Alexandrina

We received a response about the approximate costs of the surgery from the clinic in Germany.

The clinic is the University Medical Center Freiburg, and the doctor is Prof. Schmelzeisen (head of Maxilo-Facial Plastic Surgery Department), who, in Alexandrina's case is ready to perform two surgeries to reconstruct her upper lip.

The first reconstruction surgery that needs to be done now, at this age, with a mandatory hospitalization for 10 days.2. A second correction surgery should be performed at a pre-school age.

We spoke on the phone and by email, and the estimated cost for the first surgery and the 10 days in hospital only is of 22 thousand Euros.
The doctors, however, stressed that the costs can go up depending on the evolution of the girl's condition, on post-surgery circumstances or if there are other complications. The total amount must be paid before the surgery. We are currently examining this option, but we have collected less that 1/4 of the total amount. But we hope to be able to collect all the necessary money.

Respectfully,Diana and Alexandru

A message from Alexandrina's parents

I want to begin by THANKING YOU for everything you are doing!

The holiday season is on its way, it makes people kinder, more sensible, more responsive, more nostalgic, but hopeful and happier as well.
My husband and I wish ALL OF YOU happy holidays and a year of good hope ahead, as YOU gave us hope that Alexandrina can get better.

I wish you to learn to say NO to the GOOD, so as to say YES to the BETTER! You deserve this.

May God give all of us a lighter, kinder year and that this ordeal make us stronger!

I don't know s we could ever repay you enough for everything you do for our dear SANDUTA and for all your support. I want to show you some pictures of DUTZA when she was healthy – this is how she can become with the proper treatment.

Please know, although she is little and doesn't realize it, she she grows older, she will understand and will be very grateful for YOUR help.

These pictures are dedicated to YOU, to the people who help and encourage us, and are accompanied by a message from SANDUTA!

With deep respect and gratitude ,
Diana and Alexandru

Hoping for a natural smile – Alexandrina's case

-versiunea romana-

Alexandrina Hincu, a wonderful child of less than a year, suffers from a rare disease, which is destroying her upper lip. The infection was caused by an extremely rare virus and is advancing very fast.

She is Alexandru Hincu and Diana Terzi's first child.

The medical-certified diagnosis is:
Anal necrosis (cured) and necrosis of the upper lip, plus sepsis and pseudomonosterigynosis, Klebsiella and Candida (after the infection got into the blood)

Link to the child's scanned medical file

Three complex surgical operations are needed for the treatment, and they can be done only in specialized clinics in Germany.

If the surgery is not done within the next 1-2 months, the baby girl will be unable to ever eat or speak normally.

Here is a message from Alexandrina'a mother to her friends who support her and launched this fundraising campaign for the surgery:

"I cannot find the words to express my surprise for these messages and my gratitude for the responsiveness you have shown (not that I would not expect this from you or that you are unable of such things!), it's just that life sometimes puts you in a crisis, but life itself gives you the joy of meeting wonderful kindhearted people.

I was reading the messages and the appeal that you have launched, and I had this lump in throat feeling, unable even to say how grateful I am. THANK YOU, thank you from the heart!"

Now I realize that the years spent in debate competitions and the years in the University weren't spent in vain. I met all of you, and now I am glad I did.

Every time when Alexandrina smiles with her only lip, she brings color and joy back to my life. Anything you do for her is priceless for me!

I thank the Lord that there are people like you, and that I was blessed to know you !!!!May God give you good health!!!!"
